⏱️ Transit Times

How long does it take to ship from China to the UK?

Air express typically takes 4-7 business days. The journey covers four stages: domestic collection (1-2 days), international flight (2-3 days), UK customs clearance (usually 1 day) and last-mile delivery by Royal Mail, Yodel or Evri (1-2 days).

Strikes or heavier customs inspection periods may add 2–3 days. Sea freight is available for large-volume shipments and takes approximately 30–35 days.

How long does it take to ship from China to the USA?

Air express takes 5–12 business days; sea freight takes approximately 30–35 days. Air routing: transoceanic flight (3–5 days) + US CBP customs (1–2 days) + USPS or UPS last-mile delivery (2–3 days).

West Coast destinations (Los Angeles, San Francisco) are typically 1–2 days faster than East Coast destinations (New York, Miami).

Important note: As of 29 August 2025 the US has eliminated the USD 800 de minimis exemption for parcels originating from China. All parcels are now subject to customs inspection and potential duty. We strongly recommend choosing our DDP line to avoid recipients being asked to pay import duties at delivery.

How long does it take to ship from China to Canada?

Typically 6–10 business days. Over 90% of air parcels arrive within this window. Western Canada (Vancouver hub) averages 6–8 days; Eastern Canada / inland (Toronto) averages 8–10 days. Final delivery is handled by Canada Post and local partner networks.

Do transit times include weekends and public holidays?

Transit time is quoted in business days, which excludes weekends and public holidays in both China and the destination country. During peak seasons (Golden Week, Christmas, Chinese New Year) allow an extra 2–5 days.

What are the main differences between the UK, USA and Canada routes?

The main differences are transit time, customs rules and final delivery arrangements:

  • UK: Usually 4-7 business days, with UK VAT compliance handled through DDP route options and last-mile delivery by Yodel, Evri or Royal Mail.
  • USA: Air express usually takes 5-7 business days, while sea freight takes around 30-35 days. Since the US removed the USD 800 de minimis exemption for China-origin goods, DDP routing is strongly recommended.
  • Canada: Usually 6-10 business days by air, with routing via Vancouver or Toronto depending on the recipient's postal code and region.

💰 Pricing & Volumetric Weight

How much does it cost to ship from China to the UK?

Rates fluctuate with aviation fuel surcharges, exchange rates and seasonal capacity. Reference 2026 ranges:

  • UK air general cargo (1-25 kg): from about CNY 62 for the first 0.5 kg, then about CNY 40 per additional 0.5 kg; transit 4-8 days.
  • UK air sensitive goods: from about CNY 73 for the first 0.5 kg, then about CNY 46 per additional 0.5 kg; transit 6-10 days.
  • UK small-parcel sea freight (7-12 kg): typically a fixed-price option around CNY 300; transit about 42-52 days.
  • UK medium and large sea freight (20 kg+): usually from about CNY 16/kg; transit about 45-55 days.

Use the UK rate calculator for a current estimate.

How much does it cost to ship from China to the USA?

USA pricing varies by service type, customs mode and local delivery carrier:

  • DHL/UPS air express: from about CNY 149 for the first 0.5 kg, then about CNY 36 per additional 0.5 kg; duties are not included; transit usually 5-7 days.
  • JunFeng air DDP route: from about CNY 110 for the first 0.5 kg, then about CNY 53-57 per additional 0.5 kg; duties included under DDP.
  • USA general sea freight: from about CNY 88 for the first 1 kg, then about CNY 25/kg; transit about 30-35 days.
  • Oversize or bulk sea freight (150 kg+): usually from about CNY 6.5-39/kg depending on West, Central or East Coast delivery zones.

Use the USA rate calculator for a current estimate.

How much does it cost to ship from China to Canada?

Canada rates depend on whether the parcel is routed through Western Canada or Eastern Canada:

  • Western Canada air general cargo: from about CNY 68 for the first 0.5 kg, then about CNY 44 per additional 0.5 kg; transit 8-12 days.
  • Eastern Canada air general cargo: from about CNY 75 for the first 0.5 kg, then about CNY 46 per additional 0.5 kg; transit 6-10 days.
  • Canada sensitive-goods air channel: from about CNY 88 for the first 0.5 kg, then about CNY 52 per additional 0.5 kg.
  • Canada sea freight (from 2 kg): from about CNY 85 first weight, then step rates around CNY 21-28/kg; transit about 30-45 days.

Use the Canada rate calculator for a current estimate.

How is volumetric (dimensional) weight calculated?

International air freight charges based on whichever is greater: actual weight or volumetric (dimensional) weight.

Formula: Volumetric weight (kg) = Length (cm) × Width (cm) × Height (cm) ÷ 6000

Example: A box measuring 40 × 30 × 20 cm → 40 × 30 × 20 ÷ 6000 = 4 kg volumetric weight. If the actual weight is only 2 kg, you will be charged for 4 kg.

Tip: Use soft-sided bags or compression bags for clothing — they reduce volumetric weight significantly compared to boxes.

What is the minimum chargeable weight?

Air freight is billed in increments of 0.5 kg. The minimum billable weight is 0.5 kg. Fractions are rounded up to the next 0.5 kg increment.

Are there any extra surcharges I should know about?

Potential surcharges include:

  • Fuel surcharge (FSC): Adjusts monthly based on jet fuel prices
  • Peak season surcharge: Applied during high-volume periods (e.g. Golden Week, Q4)
  • Sensitive-goods channel fee: For electronics, liquids, food, batteries
  • Remote area delivery fee: For certain postcodes in Canada and the USA
  • Oversize/overweight fee: For parcels exceeding standard dimensions

We display all applicable surcharges transparently at the time of booking.

Which payment methods are supported?

JunFeng supports common payment options used by individual shippers and business customers:

  • Mobile payments: WeChat Pay and Alipay for individual and business accounts.
  • Bank transfer: Domestic or international bank transfer, including company-to-company settlement where applicable.
  • Business billing: For qualified B2B e-commerce customers with regular shipment volume, monthly billing can be arranged by contract.
Are there hidden fees after I pay the shipping cost?

Standard shipping fees normally include domestic handling, international air or sea freight, export and import clearance service fees, fuel surcharge and local delivery.

If you choose a DDP route, destination import duties and VAT/GST are handled through the route, so the recipient should not be asked to pay duty separately at delivery.

Additional fees only apply when you request optional services or when exceptions occur, such as wooden-crate reinforcement, extra insurance for high declared value, address change, return handling or remote-area delivery fees.

🛃 Customs & Duties

What is DDP (Delivered Duty Paid) / "duties-included" shipping?

DDP means all import duties and taxes (including VAT or GST) are pre-paid by the shipper or their logistics provider before the parcel enters the destination country. The recipient does not need to pay anything extra at the door.

This avoids the common problem of parcels being held by the carrier until the recipient pays a surprise tax bill — which can lead to refusals, delays or returned shipments.

All three of JunFeng's main routes (UK, USA, Canada) include DDP clearance as standard.

What information is required for customs clearance?

To meet customs and aviation security requirements, the sender needs to provide accurate structured information before shipment:

  • Recipient details: Full legal name, phone number and, where required, ID or tax-related information. Avoid abbreviations such as "Mr." or "Ms." as the only name.
  • Delivery address: Street address, unit or house number, city, state/province and accurate ZIP or postal code.
  • Goods declaration: Item name in clear English, quantity, declared value and HS code where required. Some routes allow JunFeng to assist with HS code classification.

Luxury goods, regulated medical devices or other special cargo may require purchase proof, brand authorization or destination-country import permits.

UK: What is the VAT situation for parcels from China?

All commercial goods shipped to the UK are subject to 20% VAT (standard rate). For parcels valued below £135, the UK requires the seller or logistics provider to register for UK VAT and pay it upfront — the recipient is not billed separately.

JunFeng's UK DDP line handles standard UK VAT processing within the service scope, so the recipient normally receives the parcel without an extra payment request at delivery.

USA: Has the de minimis exemption really been removed?

Yes. Since 29 August 2025, the United States has officially eliminated the USD 800 de minimis duty-free threshold specifically for goods originating from China (and Hong Kong). Every parcel sent from China to the USA is now subject to customs declaration and may incur import duties.

This is a major change for individuals shipping personal items, e-commerce returns and gifts. We strongly recommend all customers use our DDP line to avoid recipients facing unexpected duty bills at delivery.

Canada: What is the GST/HST situation for parcels from China?

Canada charges GST (5%) and provincial HST on most imported goods. The gift exemption threshold is CAD $60 — goods below this value may be exempt, but commercial goods have virtually no exemption.

JunFeng's Canada DDP line pre-pays all applicable GST/HST so your recipient doesn't have to deal with Canada Post's COD tax collection process.

What happens if my parcel is held at customs?

Most customs holds fall into one of two categories:

  • Random inspection: Normal spot checks that typically resolve in 1–3 business days with no action needed.
  • Document request: Customs requires additional documentation such as a commercial invoice, proof of payment, product description or recipient tax ID. Submit the requested documents as quickly as possible.

For DDP shipments, JunFeng's clearance team handles customs communication on your behalf and will contact you if any documents are needed. You do not need to contact the customs authority directly.

🚫 Prohibited Items

What items are absolutely prohibited for international air shipping?

Under IATA Dangerous Goods Regulations, the following are prohibited on all air channels:

  • Flammable, explosive or corrosive substances (including aerosol sprays)
  • Standalone lithium batteries / power banks (not installed in a device)
  • Counterfeit goods and items infringing intellectual property rights
  • Narcotics, weapons, controlled medications
  • Fresh/perishable items subject to biosecurity or quarantine restrictions
  • Radioactive materials

Prohibited items discovered at the warehouse will be intercepted before shipment; any return or disposal costs are borne by the sender.

Can I ship electronics — phones, tablets, earphones?

Yes, but they must be routed through our electronics / sensitive-goods channel. Devices with non-removable built-in batteries (smartphones, tablets, wireless earphones, laptops) are accepted on this channel provided they meet IATA battery capacity guidelines.

Standalone / removable batteries and power banks are banned from all air channels. They can be considered for sea freight on a case-by-case basis — please contact our customer service team.

Can I ship liquid cosmetics and skincare products?

Skincare liquids (lotions, serums, creams) can generally be shipped via the sensitive-goods channel with proper sealed packaging, subject to the following conditions:

  • Single bottle volume ≤ 1,000 ml
  • Bottles must be sealed and placed inside double-sealed bags
  • High-alcohol perfumes (above certain concentration thresholds) are prohibited by air
  • Nail polish and alcohol-based products are restricted or prohibited

If you are unsure whether your specific product is accepted, please contact our customer service team before shipping.

Can I ship food, snacks and traditional Chinese medicine?

Dry, packaged food (snacks, tea, dried goods) can generally be sent via the sensitive-goods channel, but destination-country biosecurity rules apply — for example, the UK and USA prohibit certain meat products and fresh produce.

Traditional Chinese herbal medicine (non-controlled herbs, sealed packaging) is generally accepted but may face higher inspection rates. Fresh, refrigerated or frozen items cannot be shipped by international express.

📦 Shipping Tips & Claims

How should I pack fragile or valuable items?

For fragile items (ceramics, glassware, electronics screens):

  • Wrap each item individually in bubble wrap
  • Add foam corner protectors inside the box
  • Fill all internal void space with packing material
  • Use double-walled corrugated cardboard boxes

For high-value items (jewellery, electronics), we strongly recommend purchasing cargo insurance. Full packing guidance is available on our Packaging Guide page.

What compensation applies if a parcel is lost or severely damaged?

Under the Montreal Convention and industry norms:

  • Insured parcels: Compensated up to the declared insured value based on actual loss
  • Uninsured parcels: Typically refunded the shipping fee plus a capped lump sum (generally no more than the equivalent of USD 100)

For high-value electronics, luxury goods or jewellery, we strongly recommend purchasing our cargo insurance at the time of booking.

How do I track my parcel?

You will receive a tracking number once your parcel is dispatched. You can track real-time status — from domestic pick-up through to final delivery — on our website's tracking page or via the last-mile carrier's website (Yodel/Evri for UK, USPS/UPS for USA, Canada Post for Canada).

Can JunFeng consolidate parcels from multiple orders?

Yes. JunFeng supports parcel consolidation for customers who buy from multiple Chinese platforms or suppliers. Parcels can be received at the warehouse, checked, repacked and combined into a single outbound shipment where permitted by the route.

Basic consolidation can reduce unnecessary packaging and lower chargeable weight. Optional value-added services, such as fragile-item reinforcement, wooden crates, moisture protection or vacuum packing, may incur additional clearly listed fees.

Can you deliver to remote areas?

Delivery is available to most mainstream cities and regional hubs, but remote areas may require additional review based on the destination ZIP or postal code.

  • UK: England and Wales are generally well covered; the Scottish Highlands and offshore islands may incur remote-area surcharges.
  • USA: The contiguous 48 states are generally supported; Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico and other special territories may require separate confirmation.
  • Canada: Toronto, Greater Vancouver and major provincial cities are well supported; Yukon, Northwest Territories and remote northern areas may incur additional fees or longer transit times.
I made a mistake on the customs declaration — what should I do?

Contact our customer service team as soon as possible:

  • Before dispatch: Corrections can usually be made immediately at no extra charge
  • In transit: If recipient information is wrong, we may be able to update it — contact us right away
  • Incorrect goods declaration: Severity depends on the stage of transit. Inaccurate declarations can cause customs delays or return shipments. Contact us immediately and we will advise on next steps
